Compellingly Beautiful Software

We know of a consultant whose client stiffed him for over $10000, complaining of plagiarism because code he delivered to them contained a test class from a tutorial webpage such as this one, even though that code was clearly labeled as being free-to-use.
If this doesn't make any sense to you, it doesn't make any sense to us either. Would they have preferred that he write a new test class, just because it could be done, and then bill them for that time? Of course, they already had his code, continued to use it, preached on their website about the wonders of reuse, and wouldn't answer their mail, email, or phone. Draw your own conclusions.
Let's be very blunt about some things.
First, Java source code presented on this site is here for you to take and use. We'll appreciate it if you tell others where you got it, and we'll appreciate it even more if you add a link to us from your website, but there are no constraints on the use of Java source code you find anywhere on brising.com's website, other than what follows here. You may not tell or imply to others that you wrote this code (students: take note), and you may not sell it. You may otherwise use it in any way you see fit, including incorporating it into your own works, works offered for sale, and work performed under contract, where you have added significant original functionality of your own. Simple repackaging does not qualify.
Second, be aware that brising.com accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever under any circumstance for loss, damages, or harm of any kind resulting from anyone's use of our software, whether we knew they had it or not, whether they warned us about it or not, whether they paid for it or not. By even trying to use this software, you agree that no one, including and especially you, can reasonably or justifiably sue brising.com for loss, damages, or harm resulting from use of our software for any reason, under any theory of tort or law, including and especially the one cooked up by your lawyer. This is about software, so that's the way it has to be, and you know it.
It's sad that people have to make such stridently clear statements about the obvious these days, but there it is.
