Hi there! My name is Steven T. Abell. I have spent over forty years as a Silicon Valley product designer and software engineer. Some of the things I have worked on: desktop stock trading apps, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, professional video and audio production tools, specialized military communications systems, software development tools and frameworks, a communication aid for the severely disabled, and a calculator for Hewlett-Packard. I taught an exotic programming language for a while, and I even had a successful round-the-world tour in marketing.
Successful product designs often require new ways of thinking in order to solve the difficult problems they pose. Finding better ways of thinking about those problems is a big part of what I do. This makes products more capable, and easier and cheaper to build, too.
